Laughing Song
From Songs of Innocence
by William Blake
When the green woods laugh
with the voice of joy,
And the dimpling stream runs laughing by;
When the air does laugh with our merry wit,
And the green hill laughs with the noise of it;
When the meadows laugh with lively
green,
And the grasshopper laughs in the merry scene;
When Mary and Susan and Emily
With their sweet round mouths sing 'Ha ha he!'
When the painted birds laugh in
the shade,
Where our table with cherries and nuts is spread:
Come live, and be merry, and join with me,
To sing the sweet chorus of 'Ha ha he!'

Suggested Items to Bring
* drinking water
* serving and eating bowls & utensils
* paper towels
* beach blanket
* lawn chairs
* summer clothes
* heavy clothing
* sunscreen
* hat
* sports gear
* musical instrument
* bandaids, tweezers, etc. (just in case)
Weather
Expect dry, breezy conditions, sunny or overcast with temperatures of anywhere
from the 50s to the 90s. That’s right -- it can be downright cold and
blustery at the Sonoma coast in the summer even if it’s very hot inland!
Bring a hooded sweatshirt and other heavy clothing! The ocean is too cold for
swimming at any time.
Local Natural Features
* The mouth of the Russian River is only 20 minutes to the north. It offers
sunning, swimming, inner tubing, canoeing and kayaking. Some of us will go swimming.
* Sebastopol has many small organic farms with some offering fruit picking.
http://www.farmtrails.org/news.html.
In season: Gravenstein apples, berries, stone fruits, tomatoes, melons, cukes,
corn, etc. Local figs, possibly.
* Point Reyes National Seashore is 50 minutes to the southwest. This near-pristine,
otherworldly national park is a nature-lover's utopia with amazing vistas, flora
and fauna, including whale watching. It also has hiking, camping,
* Tomales Bay is a long finger just the the east of Pt. Reyes. It's ideal for
kayaking and offers hiking and serene shoreline vistas.
Camping
There are several motor home sites and one tent-only site: the Miwok Camp Site.
Book early -- it is unlikely that spots will be available after June!
Reservations: (707) 565-2267 10:00 am - 3:00 pm M-F.
